POV: You Have 1 Day in Chicago
As a Chicago native, I know there are SO many amazing places to sip, savor and take in the gorgeous views. From culture to outstanding food to top tier craft beer and cocktails, there are so many options to choose from! But here’s what I would do with just one day in sweet home, Chicago. Of course, this itinerary is beer focused. So little time, so many breweries to see!
ARRIVAL
If you land at O’Hare, head to Old Irving brewing for phenomenal food, beer + cocktails or Mikerphone brewing for some great beer on their patio. Both are close to the airport!
EXPERIENCE WRIGLEYVILLE
No visit to Chicago is complete without a visit to the wildin’ bars near Wrigley, so head there to catch a game or people watch and take in the scene. There are lots of bars, it’s a wild area!
BREWERY STOPS
You won’t be all that far from Maplewood Brewing after your Wrigleyville jaunt, or, you could hit up my absolute favorite brewery, Revolution. Their barrel aged beer is phenomenal and they have a beer style for everyone.
TOURISTY FUN
Of course you’ve got to swing through Millennium Park to see the Cloud Gate, aka the Bean, and from there you can walk to an architecture boat tour on the river and lake. There are so many stunning buildings to see. My favorite tour was with the Chicago Fireboat Tours.
CAN’T-MISS CHICAGO STYLE FOOD
By now you’ll be hungry, so definitely head to get a beef and sausage combo at the famous Mr. Beef (from the show “The Bear”), or my personal favorite, Pequod’s Pizza! There will likely be a wait at either spot. There’s a bar next door to Pequod’s where you can go and wait for your table. Truth be told, you can’t miss with any Chicago pizza spots!
If you’re heading to the ‘burbs, I have even more blog posts to steer you in the right direction!
