Off-the-Beaten-Path Spots in Austin

Coffee shops

FreddoATX: a historic Victorian home turned two-story coffee bar with a wraparound porch, complete with food + drinks! Rumor has it, it’s haunted.

Cosmic Pickle: Coffee, cocktails and beer, can’t miss!

Double Trouble ATX: Hip spot for coffee, tacos and drinks with a big family-friendly outdoor space

Flora Coffee: Located in my fave yoga spot. Vibes immaculate!

Brunch

Better Half: tasty bites, coffee and craft beers

Easy Tiger: Great menu, bloodys, beermosas and more. Get the French toast for the table!

Bars

The Golden Horn: it looks like an updated version of grandpa’s basement with cozy couches and great craft beer, cocktails + Chinese food

P6: a cool downtown rooftop bar with pink everything

Fancy dinner

Olamaie: Michelin-rated southern cuisine - we loved sitting at the bar

Corrine: High end American dishes and amazing bread pudding!

Epecerie: Delish French southern food with delightful service

Hikes

Lady Bird Hike: my favorite, you get both nature along the river as well as cityscape views along the long path

Violet Crown: Easy hike that is half nature and half suburban with plenty of parking

Mt Bonnell: A fast hike along the water and it’s close to Mayfield Park where you can hike through some woods and watch resident peacocks roam around freely

Favorite Breweries

ABGB: GABF-award winning beer + pizza plus live music!

Meanwhile: Loved this spot - not far from the airport, lots of styles, great interior, a big food truck park outside

Hold Out: Great folks, tasty beer, right next to Better Half (brunch spot). Ask for Kenny and tell him Jess sent you!

Zilker: In a great walkable area, you can walk to lots of other bars after! Nice outdoor patio with food trucks

Pinthouse: Great lagers and delicious pizza

St Elmo: In a dope adult playground where you can walk to a number of bars, Still distillery, and more!

Vacancy: Great clear beer, love their branding and we played games here all night!

Live Oak: A bit out of the way, but a cool spot with food trucks and classic beer styles

Oddwood: Lots of pilsners and other styles to choose from

Draughthouse: 70 taps here and a big patio with a resident food truck
